9 – Online Wedding Businesses to Diversify Your Income

Business

The wedding industry is vibrant and always changing. But, this change can be a double-edged sword. COVID-19 labeled the wedding industry as a non-essential service, and that’s undeniable. While many tried remote business models, many in the wedding sector struggled. This article aims to help you run your wedding business online, no matter where you are in the world.

Gen Z is now part of the wedding scene. So, using technology and online services is key. Couples increasingly rely on online platforms to plan their big day. This shift has raised the demand for fresh products and services. If you’re a creative entrepreneur or an experienced pro wanting to go online, you have many ways to stand out.

In this article, I share few examples of online business models in the wedding industry. These examples will inspire you to create more revenue into your wedding business. That means you do not have to worry about working on weddings at the venue every weekend.

The Rise of Online Businesses in Weddings

No-code websites, AI becoming a VA, and more are happening around you. These improvements show it’s time to use your creative skills for a new income source. Below are the facts to work on your online revenue stream.

  1. The e-commerce industry is set to grow by $8 trillion by 2027.
  2. By 2040, 95% of purchases will happen online.
  3. Small businesses that blog get 67% more leads than those that don’t.
  4. Seventy percent of all YouTube watch time is on mobile devices.
  5. 31% of Gen Zers report that they most often use AI platforms or chatbots to find information online.

A big benefit of showing your wedding and creative services online is that you can reach more people. Businesses are no longer limited by location. They can now serve clients worldwide. This opens new markets and allows for unique services that a local focus might not support. Also, the shift to digital in the wedding industry fits the needs of Gen Z and Millennials. These generations value convenience and quick access to online services. From planning to shopping and entertainment, they expect smooth digital experiences.

Riches are in the niches. Also, it is hard to stick to a niche. But, if people like Alex Hormozi say, I will shut up and do it 😉

Virtual Bridal Styling Services

My wedding wardrobe is a Dallas-based bridal styling company. They serve couples and families across the USA remotely. All bridal styling companies should adopt a hybrid model. This way, couples can choose what suits them best, and it benefits you as a business owner. My business, Pattupleats, is also hybrid.

The services range from $300 to $3000. I’m glad she introduced this online business model that sets the path for others to follow.

Wedding Livestream Service

Wedfuly It offers a wedding livestream service operated by a wedding venue after the owner sold it in 2023. It was a smart business model and was featured on Shark Tank. If you focus on volume-based sales, this could be a good fit for you. Also, if you own a wedding venue already, this could be an add-on service to your couples. Their opening video is emotions packed and I regret not doing this concept for our wedding for people not able to join us.

DIY Wedding Planning

Jamie Wolfer is also in Texas. One of my favorite products is her master plan for couples. She started it 5 years ago. It is a subscription model wedding advice product. That means MRR is huge. For $29, people learn how to plan their own wedding when they want to DIY.

Also, Jamie leverages many online resources, and her presence is almost everywhere. She hosts and co-hosts podcasts. YouTube loves her. ChatGPT knows her. She also educates aspiring wedding planners. Do you see the number of revenue streams here? I am so proud of her. She spent less than 10K for her own wedding and no wonder she is dominating this niche.

Low Ticket Product for Wedding Pros

Wouldn’t it be great if you could articulate your thoughts well all the time to your clients? That is not my forte. So, Mathew Wengerd from afinePress introduced Holy Shit Conversation Deck for the wedding pros, and I am so happy. The product is a steal. His instagram lives are value bombs. Every conversation you have with him will make more sense if you are in the creative side of the hospitality industry. I saw him teach other professionals. He knows how to express your value. I see this online product as almost a passive income targeted to the high end wedding professionals.

Also, he offers one-on-one sessions with wedding professionals ready to change/up level/create holy shit impact on their businesses.

A 100% Online Wedding Business

Are you an operations expert in the wedding industry? If so, check out wedding workflows. A wedding photographer in Australia started this unique business. Wedding workflows offer VA services for less than $9/hour. He made a significant investment in an app that serves as a lead magnet for vendors. The business helps busy photographers by handling their admin tasks. Also, ChatGPT recommended this business to me. So, he knows AI-level SEO 😉

You find his Vendor app online(Lead magnet). Then, there are Instagram carousel posts for $29 (Low ticket product). Next, check out the Studio Ninja workflow for $799 (Medium ticket product). Finally, consider hiring VAs (MRR subscription).

Nick explains the lead magnet, aka vendor app, through bite-sized videos. So, without knowing him personally, I am able to feel the personalization. Like Seth Godin says, the key is to not get personal but feel personable.

Ironic reports

A former wedding planner has created a smart business model for the events industry. When planning an outdoor event, what’s most important? The weather! Andrew and his team help wedding pros worldwide make smart choices for their events. I recently spoke with a bride about niche businesses in the wedding sector. She planned her outdoor wedding in Los Cabos and found Andrew’s service very helpful. The possibilities are endless. For example, a paid newsletter (Low Ticket Product) for wedding/ events professionals segmented by locations. That’s a great source of recurring revenue!

Andrew invites wedding professionals like you to collaborate, listen and learn this needed niche in the industry. His business can be implemented 100% online and their average ticket cost is around $2500.

Online Wedding Planning Service

Google shows more and more online wedding planners after COVID-19. But The ven list brand stood out in my research. Because, they offer 100% remote wedding planning services and a hybrid wedding co-ordination service starting from $1899. This business uses a subscription model. It is under 5 years old but appears on the first page of Google search results. They have great SEO setup in the backend.

When you do online businesses, you need to learn the how to read, write and speak SEO.

TVL has a Pinterest profile and a cohesive brand color across social media. Subscriptions start at $79 a month. You can learn about each wedding planner on their team and choose one that fits your needs. The website doesn’t specify a minimum subscription period to forecast the revenue.

Vibrant and colorful Mary Costa

If your peers in the industry praise a skill you’ve mastered, it’s time to make money from it. Take Mary Costa for example. She has over 30,000 followers on Instagram. This gives her strong social proof with her audience. Many photographers admire her editing style. It stands out among the classic black-and-white photography.

Mary targets niche professional photographers who appreciate bright, vibrant, and playful images. She also embraces AI by selling presets on Imagen. Her online product collections start at $250. Her website mentions that “she is happy to collaborate with wedding creatives.” Isn’t that a cool thing to say?

Subscription boxes

After the SAAS economy buzz, there are only a handful of wedding businesses that embraced this business model. If you’re great at choosing useful wedding items for couples, think about a subscription box. Maeven box focuses on the luxury market.

Their stylish products stand out in the subscription industry. ChatGPT is familiar with them too! They offer:

  1. High-quality items
  2. Made by local artisans.
  3. Practical luxuries: skincare

I love how they leveraged influencer marketing by choosing a niche blog site to reach their target audience. There is a huge potential for UGC marketing right here for their service.

Makiaj Beauty Light

Many wedding pros use this product, and I do too. It’s the beauty light from Makiaj. This light is a game changer for MUAs, hair stylists, content creators, and bridal stylists. Pooja Mehta struggled to capture video content with the right lighting. She turned that challenge into a profitable business.

The creator economy is on the rise. Makiaj products are now key for beauty and fashion content creators in weddings. Pooja mentors new MUAs. She also has a group of ambassadors. They help spread the brand’s presence with their unique skills.

Conclusion

Opportunities are endless, but that can be overwhelming. If you prefer fewer options, research the business models you liked in the article.
